Part 1: My Favourite NYX Lip Products Swatches and Reviews!

Saturday 19 November 2016

Konnichiwa!
I hope you're all well and you're enjoying your weekend. Ive been spending mine being the ultimate adult with a load of house hunting, job applying and future planning. Phew, i'm so glad it's Sunday tomorrow.

So, i spent a little while planning this post (with a cup of tea in hand and a chocolate chip panettone by my side) and I've tried to make it as useful as possible and add in all the things i'd love to know if i was researching lip products.

So i'm reviewing 6 in total
  • 1 x NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in the shade Ruffle Trim
  • 2 x NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks in the shades Jet-Set and Orange County
  • 3 x NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams in the shades London, Cannes and Stockholm.
Below are swatches of all 6 on the back of my hand:

The way i'm gonna do this, just to save a lot of rambling and time wasting and to save me repeating myself, is that i'll review each of the 3 lines in 3 separate posts. I'll be doing the Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in this post, the two Liquid Suedes in the next, and the 3 Soft Matte Lip Creams in the one after that.

Make sure to keep at eye out for Part 2 and 3 but for now, here goes review number one!

NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in the shade Ruffle Trim

I might have been living under a rock for lord knows how long as i had no idea my local Boots NYX stand stocked the Lingerie range! First thing i did was pick a couple up and swatch them on my arm, i was overwhelmed by the gorgeous colours and ended up choosing a darker brown toned colour i wouldn't usually go for. But i'm all for trying new things so i paid and went home excited to try it out.

My first impression was just that the packaging was very appealing. More appealing than the packaging of their other liquid lipsticks/lip creams. I loved the translucent tube and the romantic font that read Lingerie. It was also great being able to see the product from outside of the tube as it gives a truer representation of the product colour (often without having to swatch, but honestly, who goes into boots and doesn't swatch!?) Another great feature is the air tight type seal around the inside of the opening. It scrapes off any excess product from the stem of the applicator, keeping it mess free. Now, unlike the Soft Matte Lip Creams, it has a long doe foot applicator which i personally don't get along with but that's just due to the fact i don't really have incredibly steady hands. The applicator was soft and the product glides on the lips effortlessly with a sheen while wet. But it definitely dried to a matte finish without being drying or cracking once it has dried. The colour seems to dry a little lighter but that may just be my application or how it looks on my lips.

As for durability, i'm undecided. I mean, it doesn't budge. When i swatched it on my hand in boots, i expected it to rub off against the inside of my sleeve, but i was pleasantly surprised. It dried before i even left the shop, and then i went round more shops trying out other products and i have to say, it. did. not. move. I stood in the queue at KFC repeatedly swiping my finger across the swatch, exclaiming to my sister how impressed i was. "Amazing" she so enthusiastically replied, i really don't think she was as excited as me. However, i was sad to realise it doesn't actually last much longer than about 2-3 hours. Having not even so much as taken a sip of water, i checked in a mirror when i next went into the bathroom and all that was left was a faint outline on my poorly decorated lips. And another negative point, which isn't really a deal breaker but it's still worth mentioning, is the smell. It smells a little like when you were a kid and you opened a new toy, that new plastic smell from a doll or a figurine. That's the vibe i got when i wafted it about under my nose.

Overall, i do love the product. NYX is my favourite brand in general, but it's my go to brand for lip products. The colour is a gorgeous darker toned pinky-brown, perfect for everyday wear and would look great with neutral/brown toned eye-shadow. The only downside really was the lack of durability, but it's still one of my favourite lip ranges from NYX, and i'll definitely be purchasing more shades soon!

Thanks for taking the time to read my second ever blog post, let me know in the comments about your experience with NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks if you've tried them and what your favourite shade is.

ttyl, Peachy x
